Everyone knows about the connection that singer Edu Falaschi has created with Anime conventions and about the music themes he has recorded for the “ Saint Seiya” franchise in Brazil, such as the classic PEGASUS FANTASY very often requested by the fans during his ANGRA years and even at the gigantic ROCK IN RIO festival during his ALMAh set. Currently, besides fronting the latter mentioned band and frequently featuring at the aforementioned conventions throughout the country, Edu Falaschi is also a member of SAINT SEIYA: IN CONCERT, alongside fellow singers Ricardo Cruz, Larissa Tassi and the Rio de Janeiro natural, Rod Rossi who is responsible for this group coming together.
Brought up on the great voices of Heavy Metal, AOR and 80’s Hard Rock, not to mention R&B, soul and funk music, Rod first appeared to a larger audience in 2005, when releasing an EP with a band called Thorn, with whom he also recorded a full lenght album from which only a couple digital singles were released (featuring Angra’s RICARDO CONFESSORI and ExSAVATAGE and CIRCLE II CIRCLE’ s ZAK STEVENS. This band performed in some of the most prestigious stages in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2008, attempting a solo flight, Rossi recorded his debut album “COME FULLCIRCLE” , but its releasal was indefintely postponed due to a drastic change in his carreer trajectory: “I was dealing with the hardships of releasing an album, and the oppotunity with the Anime series came to fruition. So I decided to follow it through. [COME] “Full Circle” became this lost album of mine, but I really like it and I want to play those songs live for sure”, says Rossi, about the paradigm shift before the sudden success of his songs for the soundtrack of SAINT SEIYA: THE LOST CANVAS in that very year.
After that, the Anime universe surrendered to him, what culminated in the soundtracks for DRAGON BALL Z KAI (2010) and SAINT SEIYA OMEGA (2012 2015), with following tours through the whole country, including festivals such as ANIME FRIENDS (São Paulo) and SANA FEST (Fortaleza).
With all his experience and recognition, Rod Rossi reached out to the others, in order to create their In Concert project, where together with Falaschi, he waves the Heavy Metal flag on so many stages in Brazil. In a single year, these singers have recorded the latest theme song for the series and have toured the country in its most prestigious venues, including bigger concerts with attendance between 15 and 20 thousand people each.
Rossi is currently in studio with renowned producer RENATO TRIBUZY (EXECUTION feat. BRUCE DICKINSON, MICHAEL KISKE, etc.) putting together what became his official solo debut, “REC/ALL”. The album, which will surelly please the Anime fans, will feature big names: All drums were recorded by MARCELO MOREIRA (ALMAh) and brings none other than ROY Z (BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD) as a guest in one of the tracks. Also, veteran guitarrist DAVIS RAMAY (NORDHEIM / TRIBUZY) , who has toured with the likes of JOE LYNN TURNER (DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW), TONY MARTIN (BLACK SABBATH), JOHN LAWTON (URIAH HEEP), TED POLLEY (DANGER DANGER) and will soon join PAUL DI’ANNO (IRON MAIDEN) has just wrapped up all his tracks.
“I never stoped listening to my great idols,weather they are from Brazil or from abroad, but having Renato Tribuzy as a producer surelly brought me closer to this heavier sound once again. I am very proud of what we are accomplishing and very excited to have such special guests in the album. All of them are great musicians that I adore, and if everything goes right and they agree, might join me on the road. The songs we chose will hopefully please everyone, from Journey and Hard Rock and Metal fans, to Anime fans. They also love metal!”
